Rocksteady Reportedly Developing Batman Beyond Game After Suicide Squad Disaster

A new rumor making the rounds online has sparked excitement among Arkham fans, with claims that Rocksteady Studios could be developing a new Batman Beyond game set after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight.

The leak first appeared on 4chan before being shared across social media and Reddit, where fans quickly began dissecting the alleged screenshots and story details. While the information remains completely unverified, the rumor has gained traction due to how closely it lines up with previous reports claiming Rocksteady had returned to working on Batman following the troubled launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

According to the alleged leaker, the project is a Batman Beyond inspired continuation of the Arkham universe featuring Terry McGinnis as the new Batman. The story would reportedly take place years after Arkham Knight, with an elderly Bruce Wayne mentoring Terry as Gotham evolves into a darker, more futuristic city.

The setting is said to be more grounded than the classic animated series, with comparisons being made to Cyberpunk 2077 rather than the neon heavy aesthetic many fans associate with Batman Beyond. The leak claims parts of Gotham still resemble the older Arkham style, while other districts have transformed into towering cyberpunk inspired environments.

One of the biggest talking points surrounding the rumor is the reported involvement of Paul Dini, who allegedly returned to help write the game’s story. Dini previously worked on earlier Arkham titles and is widely associated with Batman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond.

The leak also claims the game would introduce the Nemesis System originally seen in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Warner Bros. owns the patent for the system, making it possible for the mechanic to return in another internal project. According to the rumor, players would create unique enemies throughout the game, with the strongest eventually becoming a major ally of the main villain, Blight.

Other rumored details include a longer timeline that spans multiple days rather than taking place across a single night like previous Arkham games. The leaker also referenced motorcycles, alternate batsuits, and more advanced traversal systems alongside traditional gliding.

However, there are still plenty of reasons to remain skeptical. The source of the leak is anonymous, and the alleged screenshots were reportedly altered using AI filters to hide watermarks. Some users also noticed reused UI assets from Suicide Squad in the leaked images, which could either support the idea of an early build or suggest the images were fabricated.

Despite the uncertainty, the idea of Rocksteady tackling Batman Beyond has clearly struck a chord with fans. Many have spent years asking for a futuristic Arkham style game centered around Terry McGinnis, and the concept would give the studio an opportunity to evolve the franchise while still staying connected to the world that made the Arkham series so successful.

For now, though, fans should take the leak with a grain of salt until Warner Bros. Games or Rocksteady officially reveals what the studio is working on next.
