Ardem Is an Ambitious Open World Survival RPG With a 64 km² Map and Player Driven World

A new open world survival RPG called Ardem is starting to attract attention on Steam thanks to its large map, deep sandbox systems, and focus on player driven survival. Developed by Techtive Games, the upcoming title places players in a post apocalyptic world where civilization has collapsed following a devastating viral outbreak.

The game takes place years after the spread of a fictional virus known as RHAB 14, which rapidly destroyed modern infrastructure and forced humanity to abandon cities and settlements. As society collapsed, the environment was left to decay and nature slowly reclaimed the land. Players enter this world as survivors trying to rebuild, scavenge resources, and carve out a safe place to live while facing threats from infected creatures and the dangers of the wilderness.

One of the main features of Ardem is its large handcrafted open world, which spans roughly 64 square kilometres. The map is designed to encourage exploration and discovery, with players able to travel across forests, rural areas, abandoned towns, military zones, and industrial ruins. The developers have also emphasized that the world is highly interactive and can be permanently altered by player actions. Survivors may be able to repair damaged infrastructure, restore electricity to buildings, or reclaim dangerous areas of the map as they progress.

Survival gameplay is at the center of the experience. Players will need to gather materials, craft equipment, and construct shelters in order to stay alive. Base building plays a major role, allowing players to create fortified homes, outposts, or larger settlements that can be expanded over time. Managing resources is essential, as players must find food, secure clean water, and protect themselves from environmental dangers.

One of the more distinctive systems in Ardem is its electricity network mechanic. Players can generate power through different sources such as fuel generators, solar panels, or wind energy. Restoring power to buildings can unlock new functionality including lighting, automated defenses, and powered equipment that helps support a growing base.

Exploration across the large map is supported by vehicles that can be discovered, repaired, and upgraded. These vehicles make it easier to travel long distances, transport supplies, and explore areas that would otherwise take much longer to reach on foot.

Ardem is being designed to support multiple play styles. The game can be played solo, cooperatively with friends, or on multiplayer servers that support dozens of players sharing the same persistent world. On these servers players can trade resources, form factions, build settlements together, or compete for territory and valuable supplies.

With its large map, interactive world systems, and emphasis on long term survival progression, Ardem is positioning itself as an ambitious entry in the open world survival genre. The developers plan to release the game in Early Access on Steam in 2026, giving players the opportunity to experience the evolving sandbox while providing feedback that will help shape the future of the project.
