A new World War II shooter is entering the spotlight, and it’s aiming far beyond the usual boots-on-the-ground experience. Brass Rain, an upcoming free-to-play title from Yarnhub Animation Studios, is positioning itself as a large-scale, cinematic war game that blends infantry combat with vehicles, aircraft, and naval warfare in one unified experience.
Unlike traditional WWII shooters that focus primarily on infantry combat, Brass Rain is being built around combined arms warfare. Players won’t just fight as soldiers, but will also take control of tanks, operate bomber turrets, and potentially engage in naval battles, all within the same ecosystem.
The game features both PvP and PvE modes, including familiar formats like Team Deathmatch and Zone Control, alongside larger objective-based operations designed to recreate real historical conflicts. Maps are inspired by real locations, with early showcases highlighting environments such as Normandy and Castle Itter, complete with trenches, interiors, and layered combat routes.
Authenticity appears to be a core pillar of the project. Weapons, uniforms, and battlefields are all grounded in historical accuracy, and the developers are leaning into a design philosophy where understanding real-world tactics can directly impact gameplay performance.

This focus reflects Yarnhub’s roots. The studio is best known for its WWII storytelling content on YouTube, where it built a large audience through cinematic historical animations. Brass Rain represents a major step forward, transforming that passion for history into an interactive experience.
Brass Rain is set to launch as a free-to-play PC title on Steam, lowering the barrier to entry while aiming to compete with established names in the genre. Its scope places it somewhere between the realism of tactical shooters and the spectacle of large-scale battlefield games, with the long-term goal of delivering a persistent, evolving war experience.

A public demo is scheduled to run from June 6 to June 23, 2026, giving players an early look at two playable battles. The full release is currently planned for December 2026.
The WWII shooter space has seen a resurgence in recent years, but Brass Rain is attempting to stand out through its scale and ambition. By combining historical authenticity with multi-role gameplay across land, air, and sea, it’s aiming to deliver something closer to a full war simulation than a traditional FPS.
Whether it can deliver on that vision remains to be seen, but if successful, Brass Rain could become one of the more distinctive entries in the next wave of large-scale multiplayer shooters.
