Terminal War Is An Indie Built Answer To The Cancelled Factions 2

A new indie shooter is aiming to slow things down and raise the stakes, as Terminal War sets its sights on delivering a grounded, tactical multiplayer experience built around teamwork and precision.

Currently in development for PC, Terminal War is a third person, team based shooter that drops players into a fractured version of late 1990s America, where small scale conflicts play out across war torn towns and dense urban environments.

Rather than following the fast paced, arcade style formula seen in many modern shooters, the game leans heavily into realism. Every engagement is designed to feel deliberate, with an emphasis on positioning, communication, and careful use of resources. Players will need to think before they act, as a single mistake can quickly turn the tide of a match.

At its core, Terminal War focuses on 4v4 multiplayer battles, where coordination is key. Gunfights are supported by close quarters melee combat and execution mechanics, adding another layer of tension when encounters get up close. The maps themselves are designed to encourage tactical play, featuring tighter layouts and environments that reward smart movement and awareness.

The developers are planning to launch the game in Early Access, with an estimated development window of around 12 to 18 months. During this time, the team intends to expand the experience with additional maps, weapons, and gameplay features, while actively incorporating player feedback to shape the final version.

As a smaller scale indie project, Terminal War is positioning itself as an alternative to more mainstream shooters, targeting players who prefer slower, more methodical gameplay over constant action. With its grounded setting and focus on high stakes combat, it aims to carve out a space for those looking for a more intense and tactical multiplayer experience.

While a full release date has not yet been confirmed, Terminal War is already building interest among fans of squad based shooters, and could be one to watch as development continues.
