Cold Iron Studios has officially announced Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, bringing players back into the terrifying world of Colonial Marines and relentless Xenomorph swarms. The upcoming sequel builds upon the foundation of the 2021 co-op shooter while introducing larger squads, new enemy types, expanded progression systems, and more intense large-scale combat encounters.
Launching in Summer 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the sequel increases squad sizes from three players to full four-player co-op, one of the most requested features from fans of the original game.
Set within the iconic Alien universe, players once again take control of heavily armed Colonial Marines tasked with surviving deadly infestations across hostile locations filled with lurking Xenomorphs. The sequel appears to place a much stronger focus on tactical teamwork, environmental tension, and replayability.
One of the biggest additions is the new Specialist class system, which allows players to combine abilities from multiple combat roles instead of being locked into traditional class archetypes. This change is expected to create far more flexible team compositions and encourage players to experiment with different builds.
Cold Iron Studios has also confirmed the return of Horde Mode, featuring dedicated survival maps where squads fight through escalating waves of increasingly dangerous enemies while attempting to survive for as long as possible.
The reveal trailer showcased several new Xenomorph variants alongside larger enemy swarms and more cinematic action sequences. Dynamic encounters appear to play a much bigger role this time, with enemies attacking from multiple directions and environments designed to keep players constantly under pressure.

The original Aliens: Fireteam Elite developed a loyal player base after launch thanks to its faithful recreation of the Alien universe, atmospheric environments, and satisfying co-op gunplay. However, many players felt the first game suffered from repetitive mission design and limited long-term progression.
Based on the early details revealed so far, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 looks aimed directly at improving those areas by expanding mission variety, improving squad systems, and adding more depth to character customization and combat encounters.
With multiple Alien projects currently in development across games and film, the franchise appears to be entering another major resurgence, and Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 could become one of the biggest co-op shooters of 2026 for fans of sci-fi action and survival gameplay.
