Warhorse Studios has launched a short-term charity campaign to help fund the restoration of Pirkštejn Castle, a real-world location that inspired the town of Rattay in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
The initiative runs alongside the Steam Medieval Fest, ending April 26, 2026. During this period, the studio will donate $1 for every copy sold of the original game toward ongoing repair work at the site.

Pirkštejn Castle dates back to the 14th century, but parts of the structure—particularly its bell tower—have deteriorated in recent years. Emergency stabilisation work was completed with the help of EU funding, but restoration is still incomplete.
Local estimates suggest around CZK 2.5 million (roughly $110,000) is still required to finish repairs, including work on the tower’s roof.
Warhorse said the campaign is intended to support a location that played a key role in the game’s development.

Since Kingdom Come: Deliverance launched, Rataje nad Sázavou has seen a steady increase in visitors, many of them fans of the game. The area has become a point of interest for players looking to see the real locations behind its in-game setting.
Unlike larger heritage sites, Pirkštejn is maintained locally and relies more heavily on external funding and donations.
Ways to Contribute
- Purchase the game on Steam: Each copy sold before April 27 contributes $1 to the restoration effort. The game is currently discounted as part of the event.
- Donate directly: The local parish overseeing the site is also accepting donations. Contributions over $100 may be recognised with a name plaque inside the restored tower.
With some restoration work already underway, the campaign is expected to help close the remaining funding gap and complete repairs to one of the area’s most recognisable historic structures.
