Grand Theft Auto 5 has been around for more than a decade, but Razed Mods’ NaturalVision overhaul shows how much further its visuals can be pushed. By reworking lighting, weather, colours and environmental detail, the mod gives Los Santos a fresh look without changing the city players know.
NaturalVision’s biggest impact comes from the atmosphere. Sunlight changes the feel of streets and buildings during the day, while storms and night scenes bring out the work done to clouds, rain, headlights and reflections. Locations that have been familiar for years can suddenly look worth stopping to photograph.
The overhaul goes deeper than adjusting the game’s colours. Razed has worked on world textures, vegetation, water, vehicle paint and character materials. Those details matter when the camera moves closer: a wet road catches the light, a car’s finish reacts to its surroundings, and the landscape feels fuller beyond the city centre.
The team has continued refining NaturalVision through updates. Improvements to sky and water shaders have changed how outdoor scenes look, while additions such as puddle reflections and raindrops on vehicles give rainy weather more detail. Players can also customise parts of the experience with optional additions, including upgraded roads, extra vegetation and seasonal scenery.
It is easy to see why footage of the mod draws comparisons with newer games. In carefully chosen scenes, GTA 5 can look remarkably modern. NaturalVision does not rebuild the game’s missions, animations or open world systems, but its visual changes can make simply driving through Los Santos feel fresh again.
There is a version for both PC editions of GTA 5. NaturalVision Evolved is made for GTA V Legacy, while NaturalVision Enhanced is made for GTA V Enhanced. The latter takes advantage of the Enhanced edition’s ray tracing features, giving Razed another set of tools to improve the game’s lighting and overall presentation.
