If your usual multiplayer shooter is starting to feel stale, Hood Warfare 2 has a different setting for the familiar firefights: Chicago-inspired streets, rival gangs and a mode called Chain Snatch.
Released on 8 October by Trapstar Games, the indie FPS follows up the original Hood Warfare with Unreal Engine 5 visuals, new weapon animations and maps ranging from suburban neighbourhoods to Chicago Mall.
There are six modes to jump into. Turf War revolves around holding territory, while GangBang and Chaos offer team deathmatch and free-for-all battles. Hit A Lick has teams stealing each other’s bags, Destroy The Block introduces bomb planting with one life per round, and Chain Snatch makes players collect fallen enemies’ chains to score.
Weapons can be customised with sights, grips, magazines and suppressors. Playing matches unlocks more equipment, with attachments earned through challenges and skins unlocked through kills.
You can play online with friends or set up bot matches to try the maps and modes.
Early reception is encouraging: as of 12 October, Steam shows Mostly Positive feedback, with 74% of 359 reviews favourable. A 10% launch discount runs until 15 October.
