UNFROST Is a New Co-op Horror Game Where You Nuke the Monster

UNFROST is an upcoming co-op survival horror game that aims to put a fresh spin on the genre by replacing overwhelming firepower with investigation, teamwork and a dramatic nuclear finale. Developed by Nord Unit, the game takes players deep into the frozen wilderness of Antarctica, where mysterious ancient creatures known as the Riftborne have emerged from beneath the ice.

Designed for up to four players, UNFROST tasks squads with exploring abandoned research facilities, collecting evidence and uncovering each creature’s unique weakness. Rather than simply defeating enemies with conventional weapons, players must work together to piece together enough information to prepare a nuclear strike capable of eliminating the threat.

The harsh Antarctic environment is just as dangerous as the monsters themselves. Freezing temperatures, violent blizzards and limited supplies mean every expedition requires careful planning and resource management. Teams will also need to coordinate their roles, with players investigating anomalies, protecting one another and carrying vital equipment across the unforgiving landscape.

One of UNFROST’s biggest features is its replayability. Missions are designed around procedurally generated maps, dynamic weather, changing objectives and evolving Riftborne behaviour, ensuring that no two expeditions play out exactly the same. Even unsuccessful missions contribute towards long-term progression, allowing players to unlock new equipment and improve their chances of survival in future runs.

With its blend of cooperative survival, investigation and extraction gameplay, UNFROST offers something different from traditional horror shooters. Instead of simply fighting to the death, every mission builds towards a tense race against time as your team launches a nuclear missile and scrambles to escape the blast zone before impact.

UNFROST is currently in development for PC and is available to wishlist on Steam, although a release date has yet to be announced. If it delivers on its ambitious premise, it could become one of the most distinctive co-op horror games to arrive on the platform in the coming years.
