Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Revealed as Tactical FPS Series Heads Into Jungle Warfare

The Hell Let Loose franchise is officially leaving World War II behind and heading into one of the most intense conflicts in modern history. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam has been announced for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, bringing the series’ signature large scale tactical warfare into the jungles of the Vietnam War.

Developed by Expression Games and published by Team17, the upcoming shooter aims to deliver the same hardcore military gameplay fans expect from the series, while introducing entirely new mechanics designed around jungle combat and guerrilla warfare.

Like the original game, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will feature massive 50 vs 50 multiplayer battles where communication, squad coordination, and strategy are essential. Players will once again take on specialized battlefield roles including officers, medics, engineers, and support units, with teamwork playing a huge role in every match.

The biggest difference this time is the setting itself. Dense jungles, rivers, beaches, and mountainous terrain are expected to dramatically change the pace of combat compared to the wide open battlefields seen in the original Hell Let Loose. Visibility will be lower, ambushes will be more common, and players will need to rely heavily on positioning and map awareness to survive.

One of the standout additions is the introduction of helicopters. US forces will be able to use helicopters for troop transport, supply runs, and battlefield support, creating fast moving combat scenarios that were not possible in previous games. River patrol boats and water based combat are also being added, further expanding the scale of battles.

Meanwhile, North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces are being designed around guerrilla warfare tactics. Tunnel systems will allow players to move underground, launch surprise attacks, and disappear before enemy forces can respond. The developers appear to be focusing heavily on asymmetrical warfare, giving each faction its own unique strengths and battlefield strategies.

The game is being built in Unreal Engine 5, with the studio reportedly rebuilding large portions of the original systems to support the new setting and modern visuals. Early footage has already shown highly detailed environments, dynamic lighting, and large scale destruction across jungle battlefields.

Many players are already comparing the game to classic Vietnam shooters like Battlefield Vietnam and Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, but with the slower and more tactical pacing that Hell Let Loose is known for. For fans of realistic military shooters, the game could end up filling a gap that has largely been missing in the genre for years.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is currently scheduled to launch in 2026, with beta testing already planned ahead of release.
