Xbox is introducing a new way for players to show off the games they have fully completed, with Mythic Achievements now being tested through the Xbox Insider program.

The new feature is effectively Xbox’s answer to the kind of completion reward PlayStation players will recognize from Platinum Trophies. A Mythic Achievement is earned when a player unlocks all of a game’s original achievements. Achievements added later through DLC or post-launch updates are not required.

Once a game reaches Mythic status, that status is permanent. Xbox is also applying the system retroactively, meaning players may already find Mythic completions waiting on their profile for games they finished years ago, including eligible Xbox 360 titles.

The update also adds a new Gaming tab to Xbox profiles. From there, players can view achievements, track Gamerscore milestones and see which games they have taken to Mythic status. Friends’ profiles can also be checked to see which games they have fully completed.

Xbox is also making it easier to see how close you are to earning one. Achievement lists now include a progress bar showing the route toward Mythic status, while achievements added through DLC are clearly marked as add-ons so players know exactly what they need to complete.

For longtime achievement hunters, it gives Xbox a more obvious way of recognizing complete game runs instead of relying entirely on Gamerscore totals.

Mythic Achievements are currently available as an early feature for Xbox Insiders, with Microsoft asking participants to provide feedback while development continues.
