LEGO Skylines Is a New Cozy City Builder Where You Can Create Your Own LEGO Metropolis

Paradox Interactive has officially revealed LEGO Skylines, a new city-building game that combines traditional city management with the creativity and freedom of building with LEGO.

Developed by Iceflake Studios, LEGO Skylines was announced on August 25 and is being pitched as a cozy, highly customizable city builder where players can create their own living LEGO metropolis from the ground up.

Rather than simply constructing individual LEGO sets, players will be responsible for an entire functioning city. Basic necessities including electricity, food and water need to be provided, while citizens will also require homes, jobs and places to spend their free time.

Players can build parks and businesses, including donut shops, while essential services such as hospitals, garbage collection and sewage will also need to be managed. Paradox says the game will feature a huge selection of buildings, decorations and customization options, allowing players to put their own stamp on their cities.

A More Relaxed Take on City Building

While the Skylines name will immediately remind players of Cities: Skylines, LEGO Skylines is being positioned as its own standalone game rather than DLC or a sequel to Cities: Skylines II.

The focus appears to be considerably more relaxed and creativity-driven, with players encouraged to experiment with their cities rather than simply chase maximum efficiency.

Paradox describes the game as a “cozy, customizable city-builder,” with players able to either construct huge cities or spend their time perfecting smaller details. The developer says virtually everything will be customizable, with further details planned for future videos and developer diaries.

Despite the more approachable LEGO presentation, the game isn’t being designed exclusively for children. Paradox says LEGO Skylines has adult players in mind while remaining accessible enough for newcomers and younger family members to enjoy.

From the New Cities: Skylines Developer

LEGO Skylines is being developed by Iceflake Studios, the Finnish developer that has also taken over development duties on Cities: Skylines II.

Iceflake officially assumed responsibility for Cities: Skylines II development in 2026 following the end of Paradox’s long-running development partnership with original Cities: Skylines studio Colossal Order.

That puts LEGO Skylines in the hands of a studio already working extensively with city-building and management mechanics, although Paradox has made it clear that LEGO Skylines is a separate game rather than a replacement for the main Cities: Skylines series.

LEGO Skylines Is Coming to PC and Consoles

LEGO Skylines is currently confirmed for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The Steam version is listed as single-player.

There is currently no release date or price, with Paradox simply listing the game as “Coming soon.” Pre-orders haven’t opened either, although players can already wishlist the game.

Paradox has also confirmed plans to support LEGO Skylines after launch with a mixture of free and paid content, although details about future DLC have not yet been revealed.

With the freedom of a giant digital LEGO collection combined with the management systems of a traditional city builder, LEGO Skylines could offer an interesting alternative for players who love building cities but want something more relaxed and creativity-focused.
