Black Lake Is A New Cosmic Horror Game Set Inside a Haunted Orphanage

Black Lake is an upcoming first-person survival horror game from Polydin Studio that combines psychological and cosmic horror with exploration, stealth, and puzzle solving. Set inside a decaying orphanage surrounded by an endless black ocean, the game follows Elena as she searches for her missing twin sister, Rita.

After receiving a mysterious message, Elena returns to the orphanage where they grew up, only to discover that something sinister still lingers within its walls. As she uncovers the truth behind a forbidden ritual and the disappearance of the orphanage’s children, players will encounter terrifying creatures, unsettling environments, and a mystery that grows darker with every step.

Gameplay focuses on survival rather than combat, encouraging players to explore carefully, solve environmental puzzles, and manage limited resources. A smartphone plays a key role in uncovering hidden clues and tracking unseen threats, while stealth is often the safest way to avoid the horrors that stalk the halls.

Players will explore abandoned classrooms, flooded corridors, forgotten chapels, underground passages, and surreal locations hidden beneath the orphanage. The game also features temporary safe areas created by lighting candles, giving players a brief chance to recover before venturing back into the darkness.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Black Lake aims to deliver a cinematic horror experience with a strong focus on atmosphere, storytelling, and player choice. Multiple endings will be available depending on the decisions made throughout the journey.

Black Lake is currently in development for PC and is scheduled to launch in Winter 2027. Fans of story-driven horror games such as Outlast, Amnesia, and Silent Hill may want to keep an eye on this chilling new title.
