Excitement around Grand Theft Auto VI pre orders exploded online this weekend after leaked retailer emails suggested fans could finally secure a copy of Rockstar’s upcoming blockbuster as early as today. However, new reports now claim those expectations may have been premature.
According to newly surfaced internal Best Buy emails, the retailer is reportedly not planning to open GTA 6 pre orders yet, despite earlier affiliate communications appearing to suggest otherwise.
The situation began when a leaked affiliate email connected to Best Buy started circulating online earlier this week. The message reportedly pointed toward a May 18 to May 21 window for GTA 6 physical pre orders, instantly triggering speculation across social media and gaming forums.
What made the leak particularly convincing was the claim that the emails could be traced back to Impact, a legitimate affiliate platform used by major retailers. Several outlets and insiders suggested the material appeared authentic, leading many fans to believe Rockstar Games was preparing for a major marketing push.
That speculation only intensified because Take Two Interactive is scheduled to hold its earnings call on May 21, with some fans expecting the company to reveal new details about GTA 6 around the same time.
Rumors quickly spiraled into theories about Trailer 3, collector’s editions, pricing, and even potential gameplay reveals. Some reports even claimed the leak had a noticeable impact on Take Two’s market value as investor excitement surged online.
But the latest information suggests the situation may not be as straightforward as fans originally thought.
