A new wave of GTA 6 leaked gameplay has seemingly revealed a huge amount of information about Rockstar Games’ upcoming open-world title, including changes to police, vehicles, combat and NPC interactions.
While some of the footage appears to originate from development builds and features could still change before release, the leaks provide an interesting look at the systems Rockstar has been experimenting with.
Here are 10 of the biggest features spotted in the latest GTA 6 leaks.
1. Police Can Recognise Your Face, Clothes and Vehicle
One of the most interesting discoveries involves GTA 6’s wanted system.
Leaked footage appears to show separate indicators representing the player’s identity, clothing and vehicle beneath the wanted level. This suggests police may remember more than simply your current location.
If the system works as it appears, escaping the police could involve changing clothes, abandoning a recognised vehicle and avoiding officers who have already identified you.
It could make GTA 6’s wanted system significantly more involved than GTA 5’s.
2. The Six-Star Wanted Level Appears to Be Returning
GTA 6 also appears to be bringing back an old feature that disappeared in GTA 5: six wanted stars.
Earlier Grand Theft Auto games allowed players to reach a maximum six-star wanted level, while GTA 5 reduced the maximum to five.
Leaked GTA 6 footage appears to show space for six stars on the wanted meter, suggesting Rockstar could be returning to the classic system.
Exactly what happens at six stars remains unknown.
3. Vehicles Appear to Have Fuel
One of the more controversial discoveries is evidence of a vehicle fuel system.
Leaked footage shows vehicles displaying what appears to be a fuel gauge alongside other vehicle information, suggesting cars may no longer be able to drive indefinitely.
It isn’t clear how aggressively Rockstar will use the mechanic. Fuel could be something players regularly need to manage or simply another background simulation feature.
Either way, working gas stations could potentially become much more important in GTA 6.
4. Police Can Track Stolen Vehicles
Escaping a police chase could involve more than disappearing down an alley.
Leaked footage suggests some vehicles can be tracked, potentially forcing players to abandon stolen cars if police know which vehicle they’re using.
Combined with the apparent vehicle recognition system, GTA 6 could encourage players to regularly switch getaway vehicles during longer pursuits.
5. CCTV and Traffic Cameras Could Help Police Find You
The environment itself may also play a role in GTA 6’s wanted system.
Recent leaked material suggests cameras positioned around the world can potentially identify vehicles and contribute to police detection.
That could mean driving a recognised getaway vehicle through heavily monitored areas increases the chances of being discovered.
If implemented throughout Vice City and Leonida, escaping police could become much more tactical than simply leaving their search radius.
6. You Won’t Necessarily Carry Every Weapon
GTA 6 appears to be borrowing another idea from Red Dead Redemption 2.
Instead of carrying an enormous arsenal at all times, leaked material suggests players may have a more limited selection of weapons available on their character, with additional equipment stored inside vehicles.
Your car could effectively become GTA 6’s equivalent of Arthur Morgan’s horse.
Players may therefore have to think about which weapons they take before starting a mission, robbery or other activity.
7. NPCs Can Fight Back During Carjackings
Stealing someone’s car might not always be as simple as opening the door and throwing them onto the road.
Leaked gameplay shows an NPC resisting Jason during an attempted carjacking, turning the interaction into a physical struggle.
The confrontation also appears to affect stamina.
It’s a relatively small detail, but one that could make NPCs feel considerably less passive than they did in previous GTA games.
8. GTA 6 Has More Detailed NPC Interactions
Rockstar also appears to be expanding how players interact with ordinary people.
Leaked material has shown contextual NPC interaction options reminiscent of Red Dead Redemption 2, potentially allowing Jason and Lucia to positively or negatively interact with characters around the world.
RDR2 allowed Arthur Morgan to greet, antagonise and respond to NPCs, with characters reacting differently depending on the situation.
Bringing a more advanced version of that system into a densely populated modern city could make GTA 6’s world feel considerably more reactive.
9. You May Be Able to Clone Vehicle Keys
GTA 6 appears to offer more sophisticated ways of stealing cars.
One leaked interaction references the ability to “Clone Key,” suggesting players may be able to gain access to certain vehicles without simply smashing a window or dragging the driver out.
Rockstar hasn’t explained how the mechanic works, but it could potentially be connected to robberies, high-value vehicle thefts or missions requiring players to steal cars without attracting attention.
It would fit with the wider evidence suggesting GTA 6 is giving players more ways to approach criminal activities.
10. GTA 6 Has a Huge Dedicated Racing Circuit
Finally, racing could have a much bigger presence in GTA 6.
Leaked map information points to a substantial motorsport complex around Port Gellhorn featuring a full road racing circuit and additional racing facilities.
More recent community analysis claims sections of the circuit resemble elements of several legendary real-world tracks, including Le Mans, Nürburgring, Monza, Laguna Seca and Sebring International Raceway.
Rockstar hasn’t confirmed those specific inspirations, so the comparisons should currently be treated as community analysis rather than established fact.
However, the existence of a substantial racing facility could create opportunities for dedicated circuit racing, drag events and future GTA Online activities.
GTA 6 Looks Far More System-Driven Than GTA 5
Taken together, the leaks suggest Rockstar isn’t simply creating a larger version of GTA 5.
Many of the apparent changes revolve around making the world react more convincingly to what the player does. Police potentially remember identifying information, vehicles can be tracked, NPCs resist crimes, weapons may need to be stored and criminal activities appear to offer more detailed interactions.
However, leaked development footage doesn’t guarantee that every feature will appear unchanged in the finished game. Systems can be altered, simplified or removed entirely during development.
Until Rockstar demonstrates these mechanics itself, they should therefore be treated as leaked development features rather than final confirmed gameplay.
If even most of them survive into the finished game, GTA 6 could represent a substantial jump in open-world simulation compared with GTA 5.
