Grand Theft Auto VI has reportedly generated hundreds of millions of dollars months before release, according to new estimates from market intelligence firm Sensor Tower.
Sensor Tower’s GTA VI sales tracker estimates that Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated title has already sold around 4.38 million copies through pre-orders, generating approximately $429 million in revenue.
The estimates suggest PlayStation 5 is currently dominating GTA VI pre-orders. Around 77% of estimated sales are attributed to PS5, equivalent to approximately 3.38 million copies, while Xbox Series X|S accounts for the remaining 23%, recently passing an estimated one million pre-orders.
Another major factor behind the enormous estimated revenue is the popularity of GTA VI’s more expensive Ultimate Edition. Sensor Tower previously estimated that close to 90% of pre-orders were for the $99.99 Ultimate Edition rather than the $79.99 Standard Edition.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has also acknowledged that GTA VI pre-orders have been skewing towards the premium version of the game, although the specific sales and revenue figures come from Sensor Tower rather than official Rockstar or Take-Two data.
That distinction is important. Rockstar Games has not officially announced that GTA VI has sold 4.38 million copies or generated $429 million from pre-orders, meaning the figures should currently be treated as third-party market estimates rather than confirmed sales numbers.
Even so, the estimates provide an early indication of the enormous commercial demand surrounding GTA VI. With several months still remaining before launch, pre-order numbers could continue climbing considerably.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
