The Blood of Dawnwalker 2 Is Already Taking Shape After Huge Launch

The Blood of Dawnwalker has only been out for a matter of days, but developer Rebel Wolves is already looking towards the future of its new dark fantasy RPG series.

Following the successful launch of its debut game, the Polish studio has begun recruiting a Lead Writer who will help create what it describes as the “next chapter in the Dawnwalker saga.”

The position will see the successful applicant join Rebel Wolves’ Narrative Team and work under Narrative Director Jakub Szamałek, helping shape the story, dialogue, cinematics and wider lore of whatever comes next for the franchise.

While Rebel Wolves has not officially announced a game called The Blood of Dawnwalker 2, the recruitment drive provides the clearest indication yet that work on another major Dawnwalker project is already beginning.

The timing is particularly notable considering The Blood of Dawnwalker only launched on September 3 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

It has also been an impressive start commercially for Rebel Wolves, with the studio confirming that the game surpassed one million copies sold during its opening weekend.

For a brand new IP from a relatively new studio, that is a significant milestone and gives Rebel Wolves a strong foundation to continue expanding the Dawnwalker universe.

However, plans for a larger franchise appear to go back much further than the game’s successful launch.

Rebel Wolves has repeatedly described The Blood of Dawnwalker as the beginning of a saga rather than a standalone adventure, suggesting the studio has been thinking about future games and stories for some time.

The first game follows Coen, a young man transformed into a Dawnwalker who exists somewhere between human and vampire.

Set in the fictional Carpathian region of Vale Sangora during the 14th century, players are given 30 in game days to attempt to save Coen’s family while navigating a world controlled by powerful vampires.

One of the game’s defining mechanics is its day and night system. Coen remains human during the day but gains access to supernatural vampiric abilities at night, opening up different approaches to exploration, combat and quests.

Player choices also play an important part in how events unfold, with time advancing when completing certain objectives and forcing players to decide which characters, quests and opportunities deserve their attention.

Exactly what the next Dawnwalker project will look like remains unknown.

There is currently no confirmed title, setting, protagonist, release window or list of platforms, and Rebel Wolves has not yet revealed whether the “next chapter” will be a full sequel or another type of project within the wider saga.

The Lead Writer recruitment does, however, suggest the next story is still relatively early in development, particularly if the studio is currently expanding the narrative team responsible for shaping it.

That means players shouldn’t expect a sequel anytime soon.

Rebel Wolves will also likely continue supporting The Blood of Dawnwalker following its launch before attention fully shifts towards the next major entry.

Still, the fact that the studio is already openly talking about the next chapter just days after releasing its first game is a promising sign for anyone hoping Dawnwalker will become a long running RPG franchise.

After more than one million players purchased the first game within its opening days, it appears Coen’s adventure may only be the beginning of something much larger.
