Future Fall is an upcoming post-apocalyptic survival shooter that throws players into a fractured open world filled with mutants, deadly anomalies, mysterious artifacts and rival players competing for control.
Developed and published by 100 RENTGEN, Future Fall combines open-world survival with FPS combat, crafting, PvE missions, online PvP and large-scale clan mechanics. The game is currently planned to launch on PC in Q2 2027.
At the centre of the game is a man-made disaster that has split reality into two separate worlds. Strange wormholes have begun appearing between them, allowing dangerous mutants and anomalies to cross into the protagonist’s world while also giving players a way to explore the alternate reality themselves.
These portals aren’t simply part of the story. Players will be able to enter dangerous areas, investigate anomalies and search for unusual artifacts capable of providing powerful bonuses. The greater the potential reward, however, the greater the risk involved in obtaining it.
The result is an exclusion-zone setting that combines exploration with a constant search for better equipment and resources.
Players will explore abandoned locations and hidden areas scattered throughout the open world, scavenging materials that can then be used to craft weapons, armour and other equipment. Character progression will also allow players to improve survival abilities, combat skills and special abilities as they become better equipped to deal with the increasingly dangerous environment.
Survival itself plays an important role.
Future Fall includes systems for starvation and radiation exposure, while players can even lose consciousness under certain conditions. Combined with hostile mutants and environmental anomalies, simply travelling through the world can become dangerous before another player is even involved.
There will also be plenty of fighting.
Future Fall features PvE quests, mutant raids and daily events alongside online PvP battles. Steam currently lists the game as supporting single-player, MMO gameplay, online PvP and online co-op, suggesting players will have several ways to experience its world.
Those looking for a more competitive experience will be able to form clans with other players and fight over valuable resources and territory.
Clan progression appears to be an important part of Future Fall’s longer-term multiplayer experience, with the developer also mentioning an economy, trading and the ability to rent bases. Players will need to cooperate, gather resources and strengthen their clan if they want to become one of the dominant groups within the exclusion zone.
The combination gives Future Fall a familiar post-apocalyptic survival foundation while its alternate realities and wormhole system give it a slightly different direction. One moment players could be scavenging an abandoned location for crafting materials, while another expedition could involve travelling through a dimensional rift in search of a rare artifact.
Development is still ongoing. Future Fall recently completed another phase of public testing, with the developers thanking players for helping identify bugs and improve the experience. Updates during that testing period included fixes to mutant spawns, environmental zones and quests.
Players can currently request access to the Future Fall Playtest through Steam, although access is provided when the developer opens additional testing spaces.
Future Fall is currently scheduled for Q2 2027 on PC. With an open world to explore, survival mechanics, crafting, mutants, anomalies, dimensional wormholes, PvP and competing player clans, it could be one worth keeping an eye on for fans of multiplayer post-apocalyptic survival games.
