Rumors surrounding Hogwarts Legacy 2 are beginning to gain serious momentum after a cryptic social media post sparked speculation that Warner Bros. and Avalanche Software may be preparing an official reveal.
The latest wave of discussion started when gaming insider Tidux posted “SOP – HL2 Soon™” on X, a message many fans quickly interpreted as a tease for Hogwarts Legacy 2 appearing at an upcoming PlayStation State of Play event.
While the post itself contains very little information, it has rapidly spread across gaming communities and rumor forums, with players now speculating that an announcement could happen sometime in late May or early June 2026.
At the moment, neither Warner Bros., Avalanche Software, nor PlayStation has officially confirmed the existence of a reveal event for the sequel. However, many fans believe the timing would make sense.
The original Hogwarts Legacy became one of the biggest game launches in recent years, selling millions of copies and turning into a massive success for Warner Bros. Games. Following that performance, Warner Bros. leadership previously stated that the future of the Wizarding World franchise in gaming was considered a major priority for the company.
Recent activity surrounding Avalanche Software has also added fuel to the rumors. Fans recently noticed new job listings tied to trailer production, video capture, and marketing roles, alongside reports that the studio hired a new community manager. Studios often expand these areas shortly before beginning a major promotional campaign.
There is also speculation that Warner Bros. may want to align the next Hogwarts Legacy game with HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter television reboot, which is expected to premiere in late 2026. If true, a reveal this year followed by a 2027 launch window could fit naturally into the company’s broader Wizarding World strategy.
Another reason fans believe the rumor is plausible is PlayStation’s strong marketing relationship with the original game. Sony heavily promoted Hogwarts Legacy before release, including dedicated showcase events and exclusive marketing partnerships, making a future State of Play reveal feel believable.
Still, the rumor should be approached cautiously. Tidux has a mixed history when it comes to industry leaks, and no major outlet has independently confirmed the State of Play claim so far.
Even so, with the success of the first game and Warner Bros. openly prioritizing the franchise, most players believe a sequel is inevitable. The real question now is simply when Warner Bros. is ready to finally show it.
