A new cooperative adventure is drawing attention ahead of its release thanks to a visual style rarely seen in modern video games. Out of Words, an upcoming project from developers Kong Orange and WiredFly, combines cooperative puzzle platforming with handcrafted stop motion animation to create a world that looks and feels distinctly different from typical digital environments.
The game is being published by Epic Games and is currently planned for release on PC via the Epic Games Store, along with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. While many platformers can be played solo, Out of Words is designed specifically around two player cooperation, allowing players to experience the story together either locally or online.
Players take control of two characters named Kurt and Karla, who suddenly lose the ability to speak. Their journey unfolds in a surreal world called Vokabulantis as they attempt to recover their voices while navigating a strange and imaginative landscape. The story explores themes such as communication, relationships, and emotional expression, framing the adventure as both a physical quest and a symbolic journey about learning how to share feelings.

Gameplay focuses on teamwork driven challenges. Players must coordinate movements, solve environmental puzzles, and overcome obstacles that require precise timing and cooperation. The level design encourages constant collaboration, with many mechanics built around two characters interacting with the environment in different ways.
What makes the project stand out most is its presentation. Instead of relying solely on traditional digital assets, many of the game’s characters and environments are built using real physical materials including clay, fabric, and miniature sets. These handmade models are then scanned and animated using stop motion techniques before being integrated into the game world.

This approach gives Out of Words a distinctive handcrafted appearance that resembles a living animated film. The environments feature detailed textures and tactile surfaces that help bring the strange world of Vokabulantis to life, ranging from towering city structures to surreal underground areas.
Although a precise release date has not yet been confirmed, Out of Words is currently targeting a launch in 2026. With its combination of cooperative gameplay, emotional storytelling, and handcrafted stop motion visuals, the project is shaping up to be one of the more visually distinctive games scheduled to arrive in the coming year.
