Lionsgate has officially confirmed that it is developing major AAA video games based on two of its most recognisable franchises, John Wick and Saw, marking a significant expansion of the studio’s push into high budget interactive entertainment.
The confirmation came from Adam Fogelson, Chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, during the company’s Q2 2026 earnings call held in late 2025. Speaking to investors, Fogelson positioned AAA gaming as a strategically important growth area for the company and described the upcoming projects as a “meaningfully additive financial opportunity”.
According to Lionsgate, the John Wick title is being developed as a full scale AAA project, clearly distinguishing it from the franchise’s previous game adaptation, John Wick Hex. While no gameplay footage or design details have been revealed, the studio’s language suggests a cinematic action focused experience designed to capture the fast paced gun fu combat and choreography that define the films.
The Saw project is equally notable, as it represents the first dedicated console game based on the franchise since Saw II Flesh and Blood released in 2010. With modern horror games increasingly emphasising immersion, psychological tension, and narrative driven design, the Saw universe is well positioned for a contemporary reimagining built around choice, consequence, and atmosphere rather than traditional action.
Fogelson also indicated that these two games are part of a broader strategy rather than isolated projects. Lionsgate is actively evaluating additional franchises within its catalogue for AAA game adaptations, with further announcements expected in the future.
At present, no developers, platforms, or release windows have been officially announced, and no trailers or screenshots have been shared publicly. Given typical AAA development timelines, both titles are likely still several years away from release. The announcement nonetheless signals a clear intent from Lionsgate to treat gaming as a core pillar of its franchise strategy alongside film and television.
