Gang of Dragon is an upcoming third person action adventure game from Nagoshi Studio, led by Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator of the Yakuza and Like a Dragon series. Recently listed on Steam, the project marks one of Nagoshi’s first major releases since leaving Sega and forming his own studio.
Set in Tokyo’s Kabukicho district, the game takes place in a grounded modern city rather than a fictional location. Players step into the role of Shin Ji seong, a senior member of a Korean crime syndicate operating in Japan. The character is portrayed by actor Ma Dong seok, also known as Don Lee, whose likeness and physical presence play a central role in the game’s identity.

Gang of Dragon focuses heavily on close quarters combat, combining brutal hand to hand fighting with firearms and environmental action. Gameplay is presented from a third person perspective and appears to emphasize raw physical power, cinematic encounters, and intense street level confrontations. Vehicle sequences and urban traversal also feature, reinforcing the fast paced crime thriller tone.
Narratively, the game leans into themes familiar to fans of Nagoshi’s past work, including loyalty, betrayal, and life within criminal organizations. However, the developers are positioning Gang of Dragon as a new take on the genre rather than a direct continuation of the Yakuza formula, with a darker tone and a more internationally focused cast and story.

Currently, Gang of Dragon does not have a confirmed release date and is listed as coming soon on Steam. No gameplay deep dives or extended trailers have been released yet, but the early reveal has already drawn attention due to Nagoshi’s involvement and the game’s unmistakable crime drama roots.
With its real world Tokyo setting, heavyweight creative leadership, and emphasis on gritty action, Gang of Dragon is shaping up to be a notable entry in the modern crime action genre as more details emerge.
