The Gold River Project is an upcoming open world survival game from Fairview Games Inc. that turns a seemingly routine camping trip into a tense fight for survival. Set in the dense wilderness of the Pacific Northwest, the game places players inside a vast and isolated nature reserve where something is clearly not right. What starts as a week away in the woods quickly escalates into a struggle to survive and uncover the truth behind a mysterious experiment.
At its core, The Gold River Project focuses on realistic survival systems and exploration. Players must manage hunger, hydration, health, fatigue, and exposure to the elements while scavenging abandoned campsites, forests, lakes, and remote facilities for supplies. Crafting plays a central role, allowing players to create tools, equipment, weapons, and shelters that help them endure the increasingly hostile environment.
The game supports both solo play and online co op for up to four players, encouraging teamwork as groups build camps, explore dangerous areas, and piece together the story hidden throughout the world. Environmental storytelling is a major focus, with clues, structures, and restricted zones hinting at the true purpose of the reserve and why escape is not as simple as leaving.

Seasonal changes are another key feature. Early Access will launch with summer and autumn environments, each affecting resources, visibility, and survival strategies. Future updates are planned to introduce winter conditions, alongside expanded wildlife, new hazards, deeper crafting systems, and additional narrative content.
Fairview Games Inc. has positioned Early Access as a collaborative development phase, with plans to evolve the experience over a 12 to 18 month period based on player feedback. With its mix of open world exploration, grounded survival mechanics, and unfolding mystery, The Gold River Project is shaping up to be a notable addition to the survival genre as it heads toward its Early Access release.
