Rainbow Six Siege developers have revealed that we won’t be seeing a sequel anytime soon.
In a recent Q&A session with Rainbow Six Siege devs, it was revealed that its unlikely we will see a Rainbow Six Siege 2 release.
Ubisoft has recently shifted its focus to standalone titles and more long term services which means it is unlikely that a Rainbow Six Siege 2 will release anytime soon.
Creative director Leroy Athanassoff stated that “Siege is an evolving game” and went on to say “The Siege of the future will be dramatically different from today’s Siege, to the point where we could call it Siege 2. However, as a team, we strongly believe we can bring about these changes in an incremental way, within the current Siege framework.”

Athanassoff followed up by saying “Siege 2 would mean a new game, a new environment, probably a new inventory and maybe a new dev team. We do not feel that this is what is needed for the community. We care about your investment in the game, we do not want to move to a new one.”

This pretty much out-ruled a sequel to the original title which will be sure to leave Rainbow Six Siege fans disappointed, however we are sure there will be a host of new exciting projects in the works for the future.
This now begs the question of how the developers are planning to keep the tech for the title modern so that it does not require being moved to another platform.

This was the main goal of Operation Health which allowed the team to create a system in which they were able to make content and changes to tech together.
“Because of those investments, in the years following Operation Health we have been able to make huge technical and architectural changes behind the scenes, to allow for more advanced features and content. And if you never really saw it it’s because we were able to still maintain the release and the rhythm of new content every season”.
