Following rumours of a red door time travel system being added to the game, fans have been quick to come up with a theory to explain why this may be happening.
There has been so much going on in Call Of Duty recently from a Zombie takeover to being transported back in time to the new 1980’s themed map. Now it seems that things will be getting even more interesting with the latest theory that has surfaced regarding the new Verdansk map.
Players have had ample time now to explore and adjust to the new Verdansk 84′ map with its brighter and more vibrant aesthetic.
The demolition of the original Verdansk map left plenty of space in its absence for the new map to take us on a journey through time, however there is a new theory that could explain why we have been taken back to this specific time period.
When you first arrive into the new Warzone, the word ‘Flashback’ can be seen lingering in the corner of the screen, this leads back to the new red door fast travel system that was recently revealed in a game survey.
Last year we also saw a bunch of multiplayer maps that were seemingly leaked through the internal alpha of Black Ops Cold War under the “Red Door” code name, at the time no one seemed to question this, however now it seems as if this could all be connected.

Twitter user ‘Mancavebroadcast’ took to Twitter to share their theory, the Tweet read “I have a theory for Warzone that the “time-travel” back to 1984 Verdansk is going to be all in Adler’s mind, due to the “Flashback” name in the leaked videos of the map. Also helps explain why your character still breaks out of the brainwash chair in the Gulag.”
It seems that the red doors were a huge part of Cold War’s ‘Break on Through’ mission in which Adler was given mysterious psychoactive drugs and took a journey through a series of different situations in Vietnam.
Now if you connect this with Verdansk 84′ it could be that the player is simply taking a trip down memory lane in the form of a flashback mission to the good old days.
While the theory makes sense it could be that we are simply overthinking it, we will just have to wait and see what other things Activision have in store for the future.
