The nuke event in Warzone is starting very soon as players find hints around Verdansk that suggest a total destruction of the map is coming.
A user on Reddit going by Mundoschristmas found a very interesting Easter egg in the TV Station hut. After looking at a map of Verdansk on the wall for a few seconds they noticed explosion triggered on the map leaving behind soot on the wall covering the map.
After the explosions finish, poisonous gas fills the room, although it doesn’t seem to have any effect on the player. Could this be a representation of what we can expect in the near future? The eventual destruction of the map from nukes to eradicate the undead.
Rumours of this event have been circling for what feels like a lifetime now, the earliest leak goes way back to June 2020. Although this type of event to introduce a new map to the game wouldn’t be new to the genre. Fortnite was the first to go down this route when it tore it’s original map to shreds with a black hole. Even Apex Legends offers its players three different maps. Datamined voice lines from the Warzone game files suggest two different outcomes for players fighting Verdansk’s zombie invasion.
We also know from an established leaker that Verdanks will not be returning to the game after it gets destroyed, Tom Henderson explained “There’s no separate playlist, map voting, or anything like that. Warzone is Warzone and Warzone is 1 map. Warzone will continue to change its map as the story progresses.”
