Melika ZaidiBy Melika ZaidiOctober 29, 2021

Spectators would be able to remove players from the game if their performance isn’t up to par.

A new patent named ‘Spectators Vote to Bench Players in a Video Game’ has been filed by Sony that allows Playstation viewers from a multiplayer game.

Fans have been left shocked as it has been reported [via VGC] that the new patent was approved on Tuesday after it was initially filed back in 2020.

The patent goes into detail about how players will now have the ability to vote players onto the bench or even as far as removing them completely from the game if they feel they are not playing their best.

Spectators will also have the ability to issue a warning to players in hopes they will improve by sending them a custom message.

Players will be able to see an animation showcasing the player being removed after being voted to be booted from the game, there will be other visual cues to show the reason behind the player being removed.

Fans have been left concerned at the aspect of players being able to pay money in order to eliminate a player from the game, playing video games is often a pleasurable experience so we can’t imagine what will happen if players are being kicked from games left, right and centre.

It will definitely be interesting to see this in action, lets hope it will run a lot smoother than we think.
