Following Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard, many have began wondering if Sony have anything up their sleeve in order to rival the gaming giant. The $69 billion dollar deal has got many questioning if Sony has steps in motion as some reports suggest they could rival Microsoft by buying Electronic Arts.
James Batchelor recently took to Twitter to share predictions following the recent acquisition.
The post read “Last week: Take-Two buys Zynga This week: Microsoft buys Activision Next week: Amazon buys Nintendo Week After: EA buys Embracer. Sony buys EA. The industry collapses under its own weight, and we all go back to reading/playing Fighting Fantasy books Next month: Wordle 2”.
Now it looks like Sony has EA in its sights, according to the Financial Times, so there is a chance we could be see even more moves being made in the near future. The company is currently standing at $38 billion, which is quite the contrast from Activision Blizzard, however this potential acquisition could see a huge library of titles making it worthwhile.
According to the Financial Times, Sony is “on the lookout to build up its portfolio of exclusive games” which suggests big things could be on their way.
