A new rumour has shocked the internet after suggesting that Verdanks could be being removed from Call of Duty: Warzone.

Call of Duty Warzone first released in March 2020, the game was a huge hit with the Call of Duty community almost instantly and the fact that it was free to play helped reach more fans than ever. Now over a year later, fans have explored every inch of the map and experienced everything it has to offer. While it seems unlikely that Verdansk will go away for good, it might make sense to change up the game on its first anniversary.

A new rumour suggests that Verdanks will be leaving. The leak comes from the well known Twitter account WarzoneNewz, they claim to have trusted sources who say the “end” of Verdansk will be coming on March 11. Warzone updates drop on Thursdays and March 11 falls on a Thursday.

Despite the success the game had during its first year, it didn’t come without its troubles, players experienced almost weekly game breaking glitches and bugs. A new map could be exactly what Activision need to refresh the game and bring back players who might have left after losing games countless times due to hackers and glitches.

Verdansk has been the only large scale battle royale map the game has had since its launch. Rebirth Island was added only a few months ago, with a much smaller map it creates a much different experience to Verdansk with faster paced gameplay and a revamped respawn system.

There’s always a possibility that a new map will come along and replace Rebirth Island, but having two large scale maps seems unlikely. There is also a rumour suggesting that a new map would be based on one of the Cold War Fireteam maps, the same way Verdansk is based on Modern Warfare maps.
