Respawn Entertainment, the developer behind the Titanfall games and the hugely popular Apex Legends Battle Royale, is working on a single-player game which happens to be set in the same universe as both of these games.
A job listing on Respawns owns website confirms they are hiring developers to work on the project. For now, all we know is that it will be a single-player and a first-person shooter. Respawn did announce a while back that they were working on a new single-player game but it’s unknown if this is the same title or a different one.
The job listing is looking for a senior engine/systems designer to work on what is described as “Apex Universe FPS Incubation title.”
There’s little else we can derive from the job listing unfortunately, other than the role will be working on a “wide variety of systems, including collision, physics, audio,”. Other job listings have described the game as a “brand new Respawn single-player adventure”.
Could it be that Respawn are fleshing out the story behind Apex Legends, giving it it’s own story-based game, after all there is a good amount of lore in Apex that the game could be focused around.
There’s also the chance that this game could be focused around Titanfall, as we said earlier, both of these games are set in the same universe, as exciting as that sounds that would mean it would be a Titanfall game without multiplayer.
Either way, Respawn will be keeping tight lipped about the project, announcing little more than two of the developers already working on the small team, such as Chad Barb, who is the projects technical director.
For now, it’s a waiting game to see what Respawn reveal next.
