The creator of PUBG has revealed the plan for his next project which will be arriving soon in the form of a tech demo.
Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown’ Greene took to Twitter to reveal plans for his upcoming project, the news comes following his announcement that he was leaving PUBG studio, Krafton.
Greene told fans “I’ve held a deep fascination with sandbox-style open-world games, and the freedoms that they give their players”.
He had also mentioned that he wishes that these games had been larger and that his new studio’s focus will be “to create realistic sandbox worlds on a scale that’s seldom attempted. Worlds hundreds of kilometres across with thousands of players interacting, exploring, and creating.”
Now, it seems that Greene and his new team will be on a mission to create new technology that is needed to build these worlds, their new project Prologue will be an introduction into the tech they will be building.
Players will have have the chance to make their way across ‘runtime-generated’ wilderness in Prologue, this area will be crafted after players have loaded into the game.
Greene has said “just a world, a spot on the map to reach, and the tools needed to get there”, meaning there will be no guidance for players or any designated paths for them to follow throughout the game.
Prologue will give fans a peek into what is to come from the tech being created by Greene’s studio, “he first step on a multi-year journey towards what we hope will be rich and interactive open worlds”.
Green also followed up by saying that the project will be revealed soon, but in the meantime be sure to check back with us at Gamerficial for the latest news and updates.
