Millions of gamers flocked to make Epic Game Store accounts just so they could bag themselves a free copy of Grand Theft Auto V.
The Epic Games Store has not yet made a profit since its launch, however its free games strategy is resulting in millions of gamer signing up every month.
Epic has created two new strategies to avoid taking a further loss, the first being securing huge deals on PC exclusive titles and the second being giving players a host of freebies.
It seems that the freebies are taking the Epic Games Store by storm, especially when it comes to Grand Theft Auto V.
This GTA V freebie is running alongside the second biggest spike the game has seen since it released back in 2013.
The Epic Games Store has had 56 million active monthly users as of December last year, around 12% of these users have came from GTA V signups.
The shipments of GTA V have managed to surpass 150 million copies worldwide and it looks as if that number will continue to be on the rise considering the next-gen version of the game that is dropping late this year.
The next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V is due to drop in November of this this year, so fans who are waiting to get their hands on a slice of the action won’t have too much longer to wait.
