Nintendo Switch fans have been hoping for a new Switch model over the past four years and it seems now that finally their dream may be coming true.

Nintendo Switch fans will be delighted at the news that Nintendo has a potential announcement in store for later this year regarding a new Switch console, sources have claimed that a pending announcement may happen soon detailing a new console and exactly what we can expect to see.

As the original console first launched in March of 2017 the Switch is soon coming up to its fourth anniversary and fans have been hoping for an upgraded model all these years. The console proved to be a huge hit with gamers as it packs quite a punch considering its size, although its still in the shadows of its competitors.

Over the years fans have spoken out hoping to see a newer model with heaps more processing power and a larger resolution, could it be that now their dreams will become a reality?

Sources have stated Nintendo may have an announcement up their sleeve for later this year which is said to featured a OLED display and boast a bigger 7 inch screen. These sources have also stated that production could be well underway by June of this year, however this comes as interesting news as it wasn’t long ago that Nintendo’s President Shuntaro Furukawa stated that the company had no plans in store to create a new Switch model.

Many have already questioned if a new model is even a necessity at the moment with the next-gen consoles such as PS5 and Xbox Series X leading the market, of course the Switch console opens up a large library of games to players and allows them to experience its special hardware.

Could it be that even if we do see a more powerful Switch released in future that it may not actually lead to any improvement in the games on offer?

Of course, we must take this information with a pinch of salt as with no official confirmation made at this time we can’t say for sure just what we can expect or if a new model is in the pipeline at all. However, there is no doubt that this fresh batch of speculation will spark off more rumours surrounding the release of a new model.
