A well known leaker has claimed that Call of Duty’s 2021 and 2022 titles will be held back due to the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
Activision have regularly released new Call of Duty title each year this year will be no different with a pending 2021 release.
Although an official reveal has not yet taken place, a series of leaks and rumours have already started circulating giving fans some insight into what this years title may include.
Recent leaks have suggested that this years title is to be named Call of Duty: Vanguard and is set to take place in a World War 2 setting. However, known leaker Tom Henderson has suggested that the title may have ran into a little bit of trouble.
He claims that the game may be “held back” due to older consoles such as the PS4 and Xbox One as Call of Duty: Vanguard is a cross-gen title meaning that it won’t be able to fully take advantage of PS5 ad Xbox Series X capabilities.
Henderson Tweeted “WW2 Vanguard is going to be held back so bad by previous generation consoles, and from my understanding they are planning previous gen for both Vangaurd and IW’s next title.”

However, with the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles facing some shortages, sources have suggested that gamers may not be able to get their hands on these consoles until 2022.
These turn of events would result in costing Activision a fair amount of money if there were to strictly limit the new titles to next-gen consoles.
Rumours have suggested that the 2022 game will be developed by Infinity Ward and will become a sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, however with nothing officially revealed for this year let alone next year, we must take this information with a pinch of salt.
Fans will have to hang on and wait for official confirmation to see what is in store for the future of Call of Duty, but in the meantime be sure to check back with us at Gamerficial for the latest news and updates.
