Almost a decade after the game was first released fans are still enjoying Grand Theft Auto’s online mode, the game is continuing to grow and still seeing regular content updates to maintain a strong fanbase.
Rockstar themselves admitted that the longevity of GTA Online came as a surprise even to them, which might be why they’re so slow in releasing GTA 6. But as we creep ever closer to the release GTA 6, fans are wondering what direction the game will take.

Updates on the game are few and far between at the moment, although according to a new patent from Take-Two, it looks as if GTA Online is going to be making some huge leaps forward in the near future. Take-Two look as if they are developing an innovative lobby system for its multiplayer titles, could it be that we see this make its way to GTA Online?
This follows up from an original patent that we saw filed all the way back in 2017, the new patent was initially filed in November of last year but has since been published in February 2022. The new system “allows for seamless merging and splitting of network sessions in a multiplayer gaming environment.”
This will allow the game to reduce the amount of loading or “stalling” when moving between areas in the game.

Players will be able to make their way through different events without loosing any valuable time, the reduction of loading screens will help to improve the game massively and create a much smoother experience.
This could also mean that Rockstar are planning their online mode to have a world split up into different part. Could it be that the map will feature different island and location to travel to?
Of course at the moment, this is nothing more than a patent at the moment so we can’t get to excited about what could be.
