Modern Warfare 2 To Bring Huge Changes To How Water Works In Warzone

Melika ZaidiBy Melika ZaidiJune 14, 2022

Players have been able to swim in Call of Duty since back in 2018 and since then we have seen many iterations in different titles, however it has been repotted that Modern Warfare 2 will bring some huge changes that we have never seen before.

As originally reported on by Charlie Intel, Game Director Jack O’Hara revealed in an early access preview event that previously the water in the game was “not the best we could’ve done, so we sat down to talk about how to use it in this project”.

O’Hara revealed that Modern Warfare 2 will “use water in combat spaces in a meaningful way” which will also play into many different modes in the game.

Singleplayer and Multiplayer will focus on water and swimming and we will eventually see this integrate into Warzone, this will be the first time we will see swimming in a battle royale title from Call of Duty.

O’Hara also said that it was “hard to make a Warzone map where you jump into the water and die all the time”.

However, players will only be able to use knives and pistols underwater while other equipment such as the land mine will simply float on top of the water.

It looks like there will be plenty for fans to sink their teeth into when the title finally releases later this year, but in the meantime be sure to check back with us at Gamerficial for the latest news and updates.
