Microsoft’s gaming division has recently been under the spotlight, and for good reason. The next-generation Xbox controller, codenamed “Sebile,” has just been revealed, albeit unintentionally, through court documents published under the title ‘Roadmap to 2030.’
At the core of this accidental reveal is an array of enhanced features, including sophisticated haptic feedback, a motion sensor, and built-in speakers. Not to mention, it also boasts an easily swappable rechargeable battery.
This disclosure seems to be part of Microsoft’s larger strategy for a mid-generation console refresh. Although maintaining a similar overall aesthetic to the controllers we’re accustomed to, this new piece of hardware may use different materials to improve its grip.

If you’re a fan of personalizing your gaming gear, you’re in luck. This controller will also offer special and limited edition color schemes. Additionally, it will be a part of the Xbox Design Lab, allowing for comprehensive customization.
But that’s not all. The upcoming controller is slated to accompany Microsoft’s mid-generation updates for the Xbox Series X and Series S, named ‘Brooklin’ and ‘Ellewood’ respectively.
In a recent interview, Xbox boss Phil Spencer stated, “If we get into a console world where, every two years, we now have three or four closed ecosystems that are upgrading their hardware every two years, I’m gonna wonder – how is that helping creators or players? To me, it feels like we are creating a ton of complexity for creators and players in something that used to be very simple.” He emphasized that the mid-cycle hardware refresh is not Microsoft’s main focus, and the specs for ‘Brooklin’ indeed confirm that it won’t deviate much from the current Series X.
While the information came to light unexpectedly, it’s clear that Microsoft has significant plans to elevate the gaming experience for its user base. Keep an eye out as we learn more about this promising development in the world of Xbox.
