Microsoft rumbled the gaming industry earlier this month when they decided to purchase Activision Blizzard for a tasty $70 billion. Following this acquisition, PlayStation users have been left with concerns about the future of the Call of Duty franchise on the platform.
With Microsoft steering the ship, many were concerned that the franchise could soon become Xbox exclusive, however PlayStation users can now breathe a sign of relief as it has been confirmed that Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation.

Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer recently took to Twitter to share the news with gamers, the post read “Had good calls this week with leaders at Sony. I confirmed our intent to honor all existing agreements upon acquisition of Activision Blizzard and our desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation. Sony is an important part of our industry, and we value our relationship.”

The post confirmed that Call of Duty will be staying on PlayStation as Microsoft will continue to work with Sony. It’s currently unclear just how Microsoft will carry out these plans, although we can’t help but wonder, could this result in Game Pass coming PS4 and PS5?
It didn’t take long for the post to be flooded with hundreds of comments from delighted fans relieved at the news and excited for future releases.

Fans are awaiting the next Call of Duty release which we can hope to expect around October time this year, although nothing has been officially confirmed regarding this years title.
