It looks like Mario Kart could be making its way to PC for the first time, although it’s not quite the Mario Kart we have come to know and love. Super Mario Kart first burst onto the scene thirty years ago in 1992 on Super Nintendo the game has since become one of the best selling games on the platforms they release on.
Since 1992, we have seen 8 major games and a number of spin offs, although now it seems as we wait for Mario Kart 9 we could finally see the franchise make its way to PC.
A reference to mouse capabilities was found in the Mario Kart Tour files, Twitter user ‘kart_tour’ took to the platform to share the news with fans.
The post read “Follow up/Datamining: They have added the mouse as a new input mode. Please note that this is speculation and may never be available to the public. Maybe it’s only for the developers to use. #MarioKartTour”
Kart_tour thinks this could have something to so with Nintendo changing between game engines, there has also been speculation regarding emulation which could mean Mario Kart Tour could be included in the Google Play Games PC program which puts specific titles on PC.
If this proves to be correct, we could be seeing Mario Kart Tour on Windows 11 very soon, although it could be that the game is emulated from phone to PC instead of getting a full PC port.
