In an exciting revelation for the gaming community, Paradox Tectonic has pulled back the curtain on their much-awaited life simulation game, “Life By You.” Developed under the renowned banner of Paradox Interactive, the game has been eagerly anticipated for its detailed customization options, among other features.
Similar to the popular franchise, The Sims, “Life By You” allows players to dive into a virtually simulated life, complete with customizable characters and homes. However, it seems that Paradox Tectonic has decided to go a step further, offering players unparalleled control over every single second of their virtual character’s existence.
Where the game truly sets itself apart is in its dialogue customization. “One of the dialogue options available for players will be swearing at NPCs when their characters are annoyed,” says Hannah Culver, a senior game designer at Paradox Tectonic. During a demonstration, Culver showed that her character had the option to either flirt or swear at a co-worker. Upon choosing the latter, her character issued a profanity, making the experience feel strikingly real.
What adds to this sense of realism is how the game’s NPCs react to these choices. Depending on your relationship level with them, these computer-generated individuals can respond in a variety of ways, from friendly banter to outright hostility. This adds an extra layer of depth, as players won’t have to rely on monotonous actions to change their relationships with other characters.
“Life By You NPCs would have different reactions based on players’ relationships with them, which could range from friendly to hostile,” Culver added. Paradox head Rod Humble also mentioned that while the game incorporates adult themes like nudity and romantic relationships, it will steer clear of depicting death due to illness, keeping in mind sensitivities around the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
As the game is still in the works, Paradox Interactive and Paradox Tectonic are keen to hear from players. To that end, they’ve announced that an early access version will be available starting September 12. This will not only allow fans to get a taste of what’s to come but also provide invaluable feedback that the developers can use to improve the game further before its full release.
“Life By You” is being developed exclusively for PC and, given the innovative features it promises to offer, it’s safe to say that it’s poised to make a significant impact in the life simulation genre.
