‘Leaker’ Claims Liberty City Could Return In A GTA Online Expansion

Alex KirtonBy Alex KirtonMay 2, 2022

Grand Theft Auto V is arguably the biggest game release ever, and definitely one of Rockstar’s most successful titles to date. Now rumours of a Liberty City update have started to circulate online. A well known leaker has explained just what that could mean for the game.

Going back to Liberty City has been on fans wish lists since GTA Online first launched, hoping to break free of Los Santos. We’ve already seen limited map updates with Cayo Perico allowing players to hop on a plane and head to another location. So why wouldn’t Rockstar allow us to do the same with Liberty City.

According to leaker Matheusbr9895, the rumoured Liberty City expansion won’t be as grand as many fans hoped, revealing some small bits of information in a Twitter thread.

Para aqueles que pergunta se LC será totalmente acessível ao GTA Online. Não não será, apenas uma área limitada, a Rockstar Games está planejando macetes para quem tentar sair da extremidade por 10 segundos.

Liberty City Expansion Explained

Matheusbr9895 explained how Rockstar would plan to implement the New York City parody into GTA Online.

The bad news is that the whole city wouldn’t be fully accessible and players would only have access to a limited portion of it.

“Rockstar Games is planning hacks for anyone trying to get out of the edge for 10 second”

I’m sure it will be nice to walk around in some areas of LC, because of the Actual RAGE for GTAV, it will not be the same LC as in 2008.

For end limits are those that will try to overtake by plane or boat, for example.

Players will apparently get the opportunity to walk around some areas of Liberty City, but limitations with the RAGE engine would mean it wouldn’t be exactly the same setting as the Liberty City in Grand Theft Auto VI.

Matheusbr9895 did hint that a full version of Liberty City could be released at a later date. Posting a follow up tweet claiming “Rockstar plans a special bundle, including some landmark titles from the HD universe” only when Grand Theft Auto 6 has finally released.

Remember though, these rumours should always be taken with a pinch of salt and nothing is true until you hear it from Rockstar themselves. Matheus has a patchy history with leaks and rumours in the past, with other trusted leakers claiming he is “unreliable”.
