Players are gearing up for the arrival of Battlefield 2042’s beta, however now it seems that gamers using last-gen consoles may not get a chance to participate in the beta.
As we draw closer to the end of 2021, gamers are preparing themselves for a host of exciting releases such as Call of Duty: Vanguard, Halo Infinite and Battlefield 2042.
While players have already gotten a slice of Vanguard’s action in the open beta last week, Battlefield 2042’s beta is hanging in the balance for players using last-gen consoles.
Okami Games recently took to Twitter to share some information with other users that suggests the beta will not be coming to PS4.
The post read “Open beta early access was removed as a pre-order bonus for Battlefield 2042 on PS4. This *could* indicate that there won’t be a beta for last gen consoles.”
It looks as though the open beta for PS4 has been removed from the PlayStation store when it has initially been an addition for PS4 users who had pre-ordered Battlefield 2042.
Of course, we must take this information with a pinch of salt as it is merely speculation at this point and not yet been addressed by EA.
It should also be noted that the store is still currently showing beta access for Xbox One, so could it be that we see the PS4 version be reinstated in the near future?
At present it remains unclear if the early beta will come to PS4, although there has not actually been an official date released for when the beta will begin.
Previously, well known leaker Tom Henderson has claimed that the early access beta will begin October 6, with it opening to everyone on October 8.
