Fans have been waiting in anticipation for the release of the upcoming Halo Infinite title, although now it seems that some of its major features may be facing a delay.
The hype continues to grow around the next instalment in the Halo series. but some fans are sceptical, and wonder if the game will be able to run well enough on the Xbox One. Despite this, fans are looking forward to what the game has to offer.
The title will boast a huge free-to-play multiplayer mode, along with a colossal campaign.
Rumours have also began to circulate regarding the title receiving a battle royale mode, although it looks like fans will have to wait it out to see if this comes into fruition.
It has since been revealed by the developers at 343 Industries that Halo Infinite was almost delayed until 2022, although the studio had previously committed to a holiday 2021 release, it seems that this almost wasn’t the case.
This information was recently revealed in a video uploaded to 343 Industries YouTube channel, Creative Lead Joseph Staten began discussing what could have been in the game.
Stated began explaining how the game was almost delayed, however they came to the realisation that Halo Infinite is a ‘live’ game and “isn’t ever really done”.
The game has plans to evolve throughout it’s life as it adds brand new content and features in each new season.
So, it seems that instead of delaying the whole game, only specific features will be delayed.
The video revealed that Halo Infinite’s campaign co-op mode and Forge mode have both been delayed until 2022.
He said “As we focused the team for shutdown and really focused on a quality experience for launch, we made the really tough decision to delay shipping campaign co-op for launch […] And we also made the tough decision to delay shipping Forge past launch as well”.
Fans will likely be disappointed with this news, after all Forge is a classic component in Halo’s gameplay, however the developers obviously felt this step was necessary in order to make the game the best it can be and fit within the planned release window.
Staten did say however that we can expect to see the campaign co-op sometime in Season 2 and Forge in Season 3.
