Huge changes are coming to Grand Theft Auto Online this year, and despite giving up on Red Dead Online to focus on GTA 6 development, Rockstar just aren’t ready to let go of their biggest cash cow.
GTA Online has received two major updates every year since 2015, speculation about upcoming updates has been at an all time high this year, including rumours that Liberty City and even Michael De Satna were returning to the game, but now we finally know what to expect in GTA Online in 2022.

Rockstars latest blog post confirms what fans have wanted all along, in a few weeks players will get to experience expanded career options including Gunrunning and Nightclub ownership, but they will also be able to be “sworn in as a special IAA field operative to investigate a budding criminal conspiracy.”
The IAA for those who don’t know, is the fictional International Affairs Agency, The IAA first appeared in GTA IV, and also appeared in GTA V’s story mode, but also plays a big role in GTA Online.
There is still no word on whether Michael will be making an appearance in the next update, but with his ties to the IAA and the FIB in the story mode, now would be the perfect time to introduce him to the Online side of the game.
