The launch was so successful that Microsoft branded it “the biggest launch in ‘Halo’ franchise history”, the game even managed to break a new player record as it racked up an impressive 20 million players.
However over on Steam, the games player statistics are now painting a bleaker picture as the average daily players are around 30,000 concurrent players, and most days it gets half that amount.

We can’t help but notice the steep decline in players since the game was firmly planted in the top five most-played games on the platform. In comparison, the current titles in the top five average around a quarter of a million players to a million which suggests that Halo Infinite hasn’t even made it into the top ten games.
Although, the player count will be actually be higher that what is stated on Steam as the game isn’t exclusive to the platform, Halo Infinite launched on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and Xbox App Storefront on PC.
Microsoft has not revealed the exact number of players, even when pressed for more information on the matter, the only information that was revealed on the matter was when a Tweet was posted from Xbox representatives that revealed the game had 20 million players in January.
The post read “With over 20 million Spartans joining us so far, we’re thrilled to announce that #HaloInfinite is the biggest launch in Halo franchise history! Thank you, everyone, for joining us on the next step in this great journey.”
