Rockstar Games has kept fans on their toes since revealing their plans to unveil a new Grand Theft Auto chapter in February 2022. The ever-popular Grand Theft Auto series is stirring excitement and theories abound as gamers worldwide anticipate its release.
However, excitement wasn’t the only sentiment. A cybersecurity incident saw the unintended release of nearly 90 clips from the upcoming game, sparking debates about their genuineness. The incident was soon acknowledged by the developers, who expressed their dismay at the breach. Those who managed to catch a glimpse of the content on the GTA Forums page deciphered that the game was still in its developmental, alpha stages.
Amid all the fervor, Take-Two Interactive CEO, Strauss Zelnick, dropped a tantalizing hint during a chat with CNBC. While he steered clear of confirming anything directly about GTA 6’s launch, he eluded by highlighting 2025 as a banner year for their game releases. He emphasized, “Although we don’t disclose specific release dates, we have a strong slate planned for fiscal ’25. We anticipate net bookings around $8 billion and a surge in adjusted cash flow. Exciting times are ahead, with major launches expected across our brands, and Zengo is definitely on our radar.”
Fans have pieced together other breadcrumbs that might hint at the release window. Conversations surrounding a Take-Two Interactive Investors Call intimated significant projects being readied for Fiscal 2025. From this, many deduce a potential GTA 6 launch window between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025.
Adding to the swirling rumors, an Easter egg in GTA Online fueled the speculation further. A Vice City football team jersey displays a prominent “24”, leading many to theorize a 2024 release for the game.
While much remains unconfirmed, the puzzle pieces, especially Zelnick’s suggestive comments, point to a significant reveal come fiscal year 2025. Until then, GTA enthusiasts remain hopeful and watchful for the next clue.
