Recently it was reported that Rockstar had a number of remasters/remakes in the works, including Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption 2, this was corroborated by reports from Kotaku who revealed plans to remaster the games hadn’t made it past the “ideas phase.”
The Grand Theft Auto IV remaster was set to release in 2023 but has since been shelved along with other project like Red Dead Online content updates and the Red Dead Redemption remaster.
Rockstar have since come forward with an explanation as to why all other projects have been put on hold, stating that they are shifting their focus completely to Grand Theft Auto 6.

It looks like Rockstar Games are going to be putting all their focus on the much anticipated GTA 6, after all fans have been waiting years for the next instalment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
Although, according to Kotaku it seems that remasters of Red Dead Redemption and GTA 4 have not been completely abandoned and that the team could return back to these projects after completing GTA 6.
Of course, with the release date of GTA 6 still not confirmed, there is no way to know just when the team will pick these projects back up.
Rockstar Games is currently working on Grand Theft Auto Online, the only other known project is GTA 6, and while is doesn’t yet have a trailer, the team have revealed development is well underway.
