Polyphony Digital has revealed that ray tracing in Gran Turismo will not actually be available while racing.
One of the biggest exclusive titles for Sony is upcoming title Gran Turismo 7 which will bring the franchise to PlayStation 5 for the first time ever.
We have previously seen from the trailers, that the title will feature amazing visuals for next-gen consoles, however it seems that Gran Turismo will not actually feature ray tracing during gameplay.
The very first trailer really gave fans some insight into how ray tracing can take a game to the next level, the Porsche 917 was shown with impressive light reflections from a number of different angles.
Since, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed that ray tracing will not be active while actually racing.
Yamauchi went on to reveal that ray tracing will only be used in limited ways in Gran Turismo 7, however he didn’t go into any further details as to why this is.
It is likely to be due to just how much processing power it would require, although Yamauchi does state that it would be “really difficult” to add ray tracing while training.
This is sure to leave some fans disappointed as many had been hoping it would be featured much more in the game since it was hyped up as a feature that would be often used for next-gen titles.
Could it be that PlayStation 5 is not as ready for ray tracing as has been initially thought?
