Apparently the games take too long to make!
The recent trailer for God of War Ragnarok looks incredible and fans are eager to find out how Kratos and Atreus’ will evolve in the sequel.
The upcoming title will conclude the Norse mythology saga, it seems it won’t be receiving the trilogy many had hoped for.
Creative director, Cory Barlog explained in a recent interview with Youtube Kaptain Kuba that the games would conclude after only two titles as the games take such a long time to make.
Barlog said “I think one of the most important reasons is the first game took five years […] The second game, I don’t know how long it’s going to take but I’m just going to throw out that it’s going to take a close to a similar time. Then if you think a third one in that same [timeframe], we’re talking a span of close to fifteen years of a single story, and I feel like that’s just too stretched out”.
Barlog went on to explain that due to the large timescales it takes to create the games it could be difficult to keep players interested in the series.
Of course, a trilogy would be interesting to see but this seems like a logical move on their part given the situation.
This means that players can explore both titles and it allows the studio to move on and take on brand new projects.
