In the world of video game speed running, Mae is a name that has quickly gained prominence. Known for their astonishing feat of completing Baldur’s Gate 3 in under 10 minutes, Mae has set another mind-boggling record. This time? Romancing the character Lae’zel in a mere eight minutes.
Harnessing the intricate mechanics of the game, Mae employed strategic spells to hasten their progression. The “enhanced leap” spell, for instance, allowed them to seamlessly skip vast portions of the game. Another pivotal moment saw them utilize the “mage hand” spell to initiate the game’s final section, all while positioned cunningly below the Nautiloid’s transponder.
The speed run wasn’t all magic and leaps, though. Mae ventured to the Ravaged Beach, on a mission to rescue Lae’zel from the clutches of tieflings. Employing a combination of their deception skills and magic missiles, Mae was successful in freeing Lae’zel from captivity. Yet, not all segments of the game could be breezed past. The goblin battle at the Emerald Grove was a testament to Mae’s patience, as they had to meticulously wait out every battle turn.
Post-battle, Mae’s persuasive skills came into play again. They convinced a tiefling named Zorru to swear loyalty to Lae’zel. And as the narrative unfolded, Lae’zel, clearly impressed, extended a romantic invitation to the game’s protagonist, fondly referred to as Gigachad by the gaming community.
Interestingly, this unique speed running category, dubbed ‘romance%’, was the brainchild of a Twitter user, Th3ValeOfficial. What makes Mae’s accomplishment even more commendable is the sheer reduction in time. Initially clocking in at five hours for the ‘romance%’ run, Mae managed to whittle it down to eight minutes.
Reacting to their achievement on a YouTube video, Mae expressed their ambition of further shortening this record time. In a jovial banter with another user, Chunmeista, Mae even celebrated Lae’zel’s character, lovingly coining her the “Horniest Gith on the Coast.”
